About Emily

Hello! I’m Emily, an artist and illustrator based in northern British Columbia, Canada. I’m known for my playful, hand-painted artwork that celebrates nature, people, and small joyful moments from everyday life.

I create paintings inspired by my experiences among northern Canadian landscapes, and I’ve exhibited my work at Two Rivers Gallery, Smithers Art Gallery, Island Mountain Arts, and Omineca Arts Centre, as well as in the publications Thimbleberry and Fire Season. As an illustrator I’ve designed custom work including murals, stationery and apparel, for clients and businesses including the Town of Smithers, Coldsnap Music Festival and Stride & Glide Sports.

I have an interdisciplinary background in fine art, science and history: I studied visual arts at Vancouver Island School of Art, and have a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science and history from McGill University. I’m curious about the creative process and the human condition.

I love to write my newsletter, Wilson Warbles, where I share creative inspiration from my life and studio, along with books/TV/music/films for you to enjoy.

When I’m not in my studio you’ll find me out walking in the woods, cross-country skiing, reading a book (or ten), or lifting weights at the gym.
