Why community co-working?
Body-doubling with others makes it easier to get started on your creative work and keep yourself accountable.
Group energy grounds us in support.
Take the guess work out of your schedule! Each week you know you’ll dedicate 2 specific hours to your personal projects and build momentum throughout the fall.
What to work on:
Anything you like! Bring any and all creative projects, OR the admin that supports your creative work:
a sketchbook you want to fill
your website that needs updating
a draft of a poem
the newsletter you want to start
that unfinished painting stashed in your closet
all the random sticky notes and papers scattered around your desk
a book you want to read for 2 uninterrupted hours
Creative Community Co-working is for you if:
You want to develop a more regular creative habit
You want to draw, paint, write a poem, start a newsletter or build a digital garden
You have a mile-long list of ideas but haven’t started any of them
Your website desperately needs an update
Unsent emails keep you distracted from your creative time
You’ve lost momentum on your projects, and starting over gets harder as time goes by
You aren’t sure if you’re an “artist” but you feel called to do something creative
You work well when you’re gently accountable to other people
This co-working group is not:
Creative advising
An instructional art class from Emily
A feedback or critique group — just simple, quiet work time alongside others devoted to their projects.
Therapeutic support (though we may share our big feelings in the chat)
What do you want 6 weeks to bring you?
By the end of our time together, you’ll start to see measurable momentum on your creative projects:
Sketchbooks filling up
Paint colours mixed for your next painting
Essay drafts begun
Poems written
Newsletters and emails sent
Your website goes live
50 browser tabs closed
Chaotic computer folders organized
$8/session

How can I help? Meet your host:
I’m Emily, an artist, illustrator and writer. I’m friendly and supportive, but I’m also an introvert, so I’ll host a calm and peaceful environment for getting work done.
As an artist and creative business owner I have a long list of tasks that sustain my practice: drawing and painting yes, but also bookkeeping, emails, applying for grants, inventory, marketing…and so on. And don’t even get me started on all the projects I already started but never finished (hello scrap papers haunting the corners of my studio). I bring zero judgment about your unfinished projects!
I’m right there with you learning to sustain a creative practice over time. When I get overwhelmed trying to handle allll the things in my art and business, I love to give myself a contained block of time and lean on the support of other folks who get it.
Some things I will be working on in our co-working calls:
Writing essays for my newsletter
Drawing in my sketchbook
Testing colours for a new painting
Reading articles I saved for future research
Sending emails I’ve been avoiding
Logging notes in my digital garden
Bookkeeping odds and ends

-
No! This is for anyone who wants to spend time on their projects with gentle structure and accountability. And you just might feel like calling yourself an artist once you show up on the regular for your creative work :)
-
Only if you feel like it. We keep sharing limited to the chat, with a short check in at the beginning and the end of each session to share what we want to work on and how the session went. But you’re also welcome to dive straight into your work, and you can stay muted with your camera off the entire time.
-
Feel free to jump in and out as you please - arrive late, leave early. Even a small chunk of time spent on your creative projects is beneficial! Over time, it will get easier to return to your work with the support of our group.
-
Come anyways! You could use our first session to brainstorm a list of ideas, organize your space, and write a plan for the weeks ahead. Creative people need space to dream, too: you can also lie down and take a rest. We can make progress in all kinds of ways.
-
That’s ok! We’ll catch you at the next one.
You’ll get the most out of this program if you attend all six sessions to build momentum, BUT you can also drop-in for a single session for $8.00.
-
No! If you are writing a book or preparing for an art exhibition, that’s great—but you could also use the time to make short lists, send an email, or clear a corner of your desk. Bring any small tasks that support your creative life.
